Switcher Programs

Use this page to learn about our Switcher programs and help customers join T-Mobile. Customers who have redeemed Family Freedom or Keep and Switch and later ported to another carrier are only eligible to participate in Family Freedom or Keep and Switch again after two years have passed since the first payout date.

We offer multiple switcher programs designed to fit different customer needs. These programs can help reimburse customers for device payment balances and/or early termination fees from their current carrier.

Keep and Switch

 

Great for customers with an open device payment plan or ETF on their unlocked phone and want to keep using their fully compatible device at T-Mobile.

Keep your device and switch to T-Mobile. We’re making it easier than ever to switch to T-Mobile by reimbursing customers for open device payment plans and service contracts (up to $800 per line) when they sign up for our best plans, complete a new voice line activation with an eligible port-in, and activate their existing eligible device on T-Mobile’s network.

  • Customers must bring an eligible device to use on our network, and it must have a minimum of 90 days on device payment plan, including at minimum three successful payments on the plan. 
    • Each BYOD IMEI can only be used once for this offer.   
  • Customers should complete their device unlock prior to porting in their number. If they don’t complete their device unlock before porting, they will not have a phone to use and will no longer have access to their previous carrier device payment plan information.

Family Freedom makes it easier to switch the whole family to T-Mobile. Help reimburse customers for device payment balances and service contracts from their previous carrier—up to $800 per line—when they activate new voice lines with port-in, trade in eligible devices, and purchase new phones on qualifying voice plans.

T-Mobile's Breakfree offer is designed to help move your business with ease. Business w/ Tax ID, Government, and Business w/ SSN customers that port lines to T-Mobile on qualifying business plans can receive a payout of up to $800 per line/address on up to 25 lines, and a maximum payout of up to $100 for lines/addresses 26 and beyond. For a limited time only starting June 8, 2026, the 25-line cap has been removed and ALL LINES receive up to $800!

Customer receives payout via bill credit of up to $800 for up to 25 lines/address, and then up to $100 for each additional line/addresses per account.

  • Reimbursement process takes typically up to 15 days from date of reimbursement submission.

 

Submission details

  • Customers must submit for reimbursement by sending the old carrier's final bill pages showing ETF(s) or device payment plan associated with the ported line to T-Mobile, phone number(s), name, and address to breakfree@t-mobilesupport.com within 90 days from activation.
  • If the customer’s final bill does not show the device payment plan with the number, the customer may need to include the statement prior to cancellation.
  • To check submission status or assist with submission issues such as no submission found or denial inquiries, contact BreakFree support.

Here's how your redemption works

Review this section outline to determine customer eligibility, customer responsibilities, submission steps, and payout expectations for Family Freedom & Keep & Switch.

T-Mobile for Business customers can participate in BreakFree through T-Mobile for Business Direct/Partner Solutions/ecommerce channels.

 

Before you begin: 

  • You must download a PDF of their most recent bill before port‑in. 
    • The PDF must include the customer's mobile number, device make/model, number of installments (for example: 14 of 24 installments), and prior carrier name.
  • You must have an open device payment plan and/or ETF with the previous carrier.
  • You must port in a number from an approved carrier.
    • Keep and Switch Locked Device: Activation can proceed; however, port-in cannot be completed until the device is unlocked.
    • Keep and Switch Unlocked Device: Both activation and port-in can be completed.
  • You must meet the Submission deadline: 30 days from activation (up to 60 days if waiting on final ETF bill).
  • Complete all requirements of the Switcher offer (Family Freedom, Keep & Switch, Breakfree) wishing to redeem.
  • If this number has been used for Family Freedom, Keep and Switch, or BreakFree within the last 2 years, it is not eligible.    

 

Customer submission flow

1. Go to promotions.t-mobile.com.

  1. Select Continue under Let's start your submission.
  2. Log in with T‑Mobile ID (2‑step verification may apply).
  3. Select the phone number for reimbursement.
  4. Enter your transaction details and select the Switcher promotion.
  5. Select the Switcher promotion and enter your previous carrier.
  6. Enter the expected reimbursement amount and start date.
  7. Before porting, ensure you upload documentation:
    • Final bill and/or device financing screenshots
    • Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, PNG (≤5MB each, max 15 files)
    • The PDF must include the mobile number, device make/model, number of installments (for example: 14 of 24 installments), and prior carrier name.
    • Important! Customers will not be able to access these once the port-in is complete.
  8. Submit for processing.

2. Activate service and bring your number.

  1. Join T-Mobile and sign up for unlimited talk, text, and data.
  2. Trade in your phone for Family Freedom or bring your own device with Keep and Switch.
  3. Port your phone number in. Check your number eligibility

3. Verify submission & your payout timelines.

Customers can view status at promotions.t-mobile.com, including:

  • Tracking ID
  • Submission date/time
  • Payment type
  • Status (Approved / Denied)
  • Reimbursement amount per line

Frontline can use the T-Mobile Promo Tool to review submissions. 

Payout Timelines

The reimbursement process can take up to 15 days after the submission is approved (but allow up to 8 weeks) from the date of reimbursement submission. Virtual Prepaid Mastercards are sent via SMS typically within 24-48 hours after the Day 15 payout date.
